Sam Gardner succesffully defended his XTERRA Saipan Championship by besting Mike Vine by a mere 43 seconds in the 9th Annual XTERRA Saipan Championship. Rounding out the top five behind Gardner and Vine were Jason Chalker of Australia, Takahiro Ogasawara of Japan, and Michael Hiscott of England.

In the women's division five time XTERRA Saipan Champion Renata Bucher won her 6th victory here on our beautiful island followed by Shonny Vanlandingham of the Colorado USA, Mieko Carey of Saipan, Emma Ruth Smith of England, and Caroline Colonna of the New Mexico, USA.

There were thrills and spills galore with the last finisher coming in at 7:42:57 which gave us a reason to put a time limit on the bike transition next year.
